Overview
In today’s cashless world, charities struggle to collect donations. The founders of Sam Payments saw a solution to modernize the donation process, making it easy for charities and donors. I got to bring this to life through the design of their app and website.
The problem
The main goal was to create a platform where charities could accept contactless payments. Existing solutions were expensive, complex and not user friendly. Sam Payments wanted an all in one solution that was intuitive and efficient.
Designing the Sam App
The Sam App was designed to enable collectors to accept donations using tap to pay. Donors wouldn’t need to download the app, they could donate using any contactless payment method. This meant inclusivity and ease of use. I focused on a clean and modern design that put user experience first. Every screen, button and interaction was designed to be simple and easy to use. The design was both beautiful and functional to make the donation process smooth.
Website design
I designed the Sam Payments website to match the Sam Payments app and communicate the value to Sam users. The site needed to be informative but fun, and guide charities and collectors to sign up quickly and easily. I structured the content to highlight contactless donations, with clean visuals, concise copy and CTA buttons to drive conversions. The end result is a site that looks great and educates and motivates users to use Sam Payments.
Bringing impact to +50 organisations
Since its launch, the Sam App has been adopted by over 50 organizations and used by more than 1,000 collectors and donors. This widespread adoption speaks to the app’s intuitive design and the real-world need for a seamless, cashless donation solution. By simplifying the donation process, Sam Payments has empowered charities to raise funds more effectively, ensuring they can focus on their mission rather than logistical challenges. Seeing the platform in action and making a tangible difference has been incredibly rewarding.
Outcome
The result was a blend of design and functionality. The Sam App and Sam Hub gave charities the tools to collect donations in a cashless world. The intuitive design and robust features allowed organisations to focus on their mission knowing their fundraising was supported by a reliable and user friendly platform. Through good design and a user centric approach Sam Payments has bridged the gap between old school fundraising and the modern cashless world. The project is a great example of design for good.
